May 17: $6 Million Fremont Hotel Opens Doors Tomorrow
Story: Hotel Fremont, newest addition to the Las Vegas skyline, will have a gala opening tomorrow at 11 a.m., President Ed Levinson announced. The hotel operators thus will have succeeded in their aim: to open the $6 million, 15-story downtown establishment during Helldorado festivities.
The luxury hotel is ultra-modern in design. The Los Angeles architectural firm of McAllister and Wagener introduced many new features, such as the staggered window pattern in which no window is completely beneath another window. The building will literally sparkle inasmuch as the exterior is surfaced with clear quartz, which will reflect the sun and night lights. The hotel, which took two years to build, is expected to become the hub of the city.

An hour's entertainment will be presented with Bill Willard as master of ceremonies for that portion of the program.
