Registration due for free preschool

Registration for fall classes for Classroom On Wheels, a free bilingual preschool, will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 439 S. Decatur Blvd.

Children 3-5 years old are eligible. Bring birth certificate, shot records and proof of income, such as paycheck stubs. This is the last week to register children for the COW fall classes. For more information, call 870-7201.

Groundbreaking set for 37-acre complex

Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation is breaking ground for Mountain Crest Park 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the southwest corner of Lone Mountain Road and Durango Drive.

The 37-acre park when completed will include a playground and tot lot; a water spray feature; restrooms; a central plaza with ramadas; tables and grills for group and individual picnics; a natural amphitheater; an 18-hole disc golf course; volleyball, tennis and basketball courts; and a 5,500-square-foot neighborhood services building.

Applications accepted for citizens' classes

Applications for the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Citizens Fire Academy, scheduled February through May, are being accepted.

The academy provides information on daily operations of Las Vegas Fire and Rescue. It is approximately 40 hours. Classes will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and include lectures, ride-alongs and hands-on exercises.

Applications can be picked up at fire department headquarters and must be returned by Nov. 3.
