Profit surges for big LV developer

LAS VEGAS SUNM
The Rouse Co., the largest developer in Las Vegas, on Monday reported a second quarter profit of $33.8 million or 44 cents per share vs. a profit in the year-ago quarter of $29.1 million or 36 cents.
Columbia, Md.-based Rouse is developing the Summerlin master planned community in Las Vegas, is expanding the Fashion Show mall on the Las Vegas Strip and owns the Howard Hughes Corp. Howard Hughes has a big portfolio of office and commercial properties in Las Vegas.
