A Pahrump supermarket and the firefighters who fought the Trout Canyon fire about 30 miles west of Las Vegas last week have combined to donate 196 cases of sausage to the Salvation Army.
Wanting to help out the firefighters last week, a Pahrump Albertson's donated two pallets of Hillshire Farms Summer Sausage to the effort. But by the time the sausage was ready to be sent up to the firefighters, the fire had been contained and many of the firefighters had been sent to other Western wildfires.
So both the Albertson's and the firefighters agreed to donate the sausage to the Salvation Army, fire and Albertson's officials said.
