DMV website lessening lines
Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 | 9:42 a.m.
About 6,000 people have signed on to the DMV's Internet site to renew drivers licenses and registrations.
DMV Director Richard Kirkland calls it a win-win situation for both the public and the state.
He said customers get their renewals accomplished quickly and easily and the staff has more time available to work in other areas.
Kirkland said the service has been available for three months and can be reached through desktop computers or through computers at vehicle emissions inspection stations.
