Biloxi’s Grand Casino seeking approval for five-story parking deck

The casino must obtain a variance from the city of Biloxi for the proposed parking facility site even though it owns the property.
The Grand Casino bought the 2.6-acre site in 1996 for $7.5 million. The variances are required because the two parcels are considered separate pieces of property.
The parking deck would create more than 1,100 new parking spaces for casino patrons.
Plans call for building a skywalk over the water from the parking garage to the casino barge. The garage would be 65 feet high.
The Grand currently has 5,177 parking spaces. Besides the five-story garage, the casino has long-range plans to build two other parking facilities that would give it a total of 7,569 parking spaces.
Those parking facilities are tied to a proposed hotel and a proposed time-share condominium project.
