The nine are the names left from 62 people who applied for the job of executive director of the bi-state agency.
Sacramento-based Wilcox, Miller and George pared the list to nine and the company's Diane Miller said the quality of the finalists is impressive.
The top applicants come from both the public and private sector and are currently employed in positions across the country.
TRPA's former executive director, Jim Baetge, resigned from his $90,000-a-year post in January due to health problems.
More than 100 people applied for the position during the agency's first search for a replacement, which ended in late April when the governing board offered the job to Greg James, who's director of the water department for Inyo County, Calif.
The search resumed after James rejected the offer for personal reasons and Nevada Public Lands Administrator Pam Wilcox also pulled her name from the list of candidates.
