Local residents can sign up on Internet
Voter registration is now as simple as clicking a mouse for local residents with access to the Internet.
Residents may register by calling up the website of the Clark County elections department (www.co.clark.nv.us/election).
An application will be sent to anyone who types in his name and home mailing address and clicks to e-mail the information to the election department.
Officials will mail an application that can be filled out and returned by mail.
While the deadline passed earlier this week to register to vote in the primary, residents may still register by Oct. 7 for the general election.
Those without Internet access may stop by the election department at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, all DMV offices, some post offices and some libraries. They also may call the election department at 455-8683 for the closest location that has applications.

Reid PAC registers under new IRS law
A political action committee run by Nevada's top elected Democrat is among the first to register with the Internal Revenue Service under a new law.
The Searchlight Leadership Fund, controlled by Sen. Harry Reid, will now be subject to new financial disclosure laws hidden in the past as what is known as "soft money."
The law requires political action committeees and similar groups that donate money to candidates at all levels to disclose the names, addresses and occupations of those who donate $200 a year or more.
