This year's academy was held Aug. 1-4 in Colorado Springs, Colo., with 38 legislators from Nevada, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Guam.
The academy, which was established in response to increased turnover because of term limits in Western states, provides training in communications, team building, legislative strategies, negotiations and time management.
