LAKE MEAD: Anglers who have been braving the hot weather have been rewarded with good fishing for striped bass, bluegill and channel catfish.
Nevada Division of Wildlife creel clerks working at Government Wash and Overton Beach report that anglers are bringing in large numbers of bluegill. Channel catfish are being caught near the Muddy River above Overton Beach.
Striped bass fishing continues to be good for boaters at Government Wash, Gypsum Wash and the Hemenway Wall in the Boulder Basin. Some action for stripers has been reported by boaters who have been fishing with topwater lures around Fish Island and Overton Beach.
Shore anglers have had some recent success for stripers from the jetty at Lake Mead Marina and at Pumphouse Cove. Most shore anglers are using cut anchovies to catch the fish.
A pair of anglers fishing from a boat caught 12 largemouth bass over the weekend above Overton Beach. Those fish were taken with grubs.
LAKE MOHAVE: Striped bass fishing has been fairly good despite the recent hot weather and strong winds. Boaters who have been trolling near the fence line and in the Six Mile area of Cottonwood Basin have caught stripers that measure from 9-14 inches.
