Fuel maker’s profit declines

American Pacific Corp. of Las Vegas, manufacturer of solid rocket fuel and other chemicals, reported a profit for its third quarter of $1.8 million or 26 cents per share, down from the year-ago quarter's $2.2 million or 26 cents.
Sales fell from $18.7 million to $17 million. Cash flow improved but the company took extraordinary losses on debt reduction in both the 2000 and 1999 quarters. Before the extraordinary losses, AP's profit was $2.8 million, up from $2.4 million in the year-ago quarter.
