Reserve to give $1,000 grants

Five $1,000 grants to promote professional enrichment will be given through the second annual Reserve Distinguished Teacher Fellowship Awards.

A secondary intention of the outreach is to formally recognize teachers for their exceptional work to improve student learning and to encourage peer-to-peer communication.

In an alliance unique to Henderson, the Reserve hotel-casino and the foundation established the Reserve Distinguished Teacher Fellowship in 1999.

Applications for the fellowship will be available Aug. 23. Forms will be distributed through all Henderson and Boulder City elementary, middle and high schools, or may be accessed through the Clark County Education Foundation website (www.ccpef.org).

Interested educators must have at least three years of experience in Clark County schools and plan to continue working with students for the next two years. Additionally, selected honorees must be willing to share their knowledge, experiences and the information gained from their targeted professional development activities with their peers. For more information, call 799-1042.
