Gathering in the early morning recently were advocates and longtime volunteers of the Nevada Association for the Handicapped. This occasion was the kick-off for Playhouse 2000 Goes Hollywood. Held at WB Stage 16 Restaurant at the Venetian, a most appropriate setting for the Hollywood-themed gala, the breakfast was a rare time for the workers to meet and later listen to comments from guest emcee Steve Schorr. In the crowd were Jon Tullis, Jeannette Cutolo, Charlene Herst, Jackie Brett, Rosemary D'Amato, Renee Gutierrez and Melissa Menke to name just a few.
Del Papa fined for leaving deposition in Anzalone case
Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa was fined $500 Tuesday for walking out of a videotaped deposition in May.

Editorial: Latest plan offered by mayor is a doozy
Sometimes it seems that whatever pops into Goodman's mind, he repeats it without hesitation. It is refreshing to have a mayor who's not worried whether his remarks will ruffle feathers, but this can be a double-edged sword, hurting his credibility so that his other substantive policies run the risk of not being taken seriously. Goodman would be well-served if he would think through some of these more sweeping changes before he offers them up as serious proposals.
Grant to help fight domestic violence
A Department of Justice grant of $750,000 has been awarded to Clark County Family and Youth Services to boost enforcement of domestic laws and to protect and assist those in need of safe shelter, counseling and other services.
