Stars’ road trip gets off to rough start

OMAHA, Neb. -- For the Stars, it was not exactly the best way to start an eight-game road trip.
First, the team's connecting flight Monday from Denver was delayed for several hours because of mechanical problems with their airplane, which also included players from Omaha returning from Albuquerque. That forced the game to start about 30 minutes late.
Then, after John Roskos broke a 0-0 tie in the eighth with a RBI double up the gap in right-center, the Stars' bullpen couldn't hold the lead.
Omaha catcher Jorge Fabregas drove in Dee Brown with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Tom Davey as the Golden Spikes rallied for a 2-1 victory at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Doug Jennings had tied the score earlier in the inning with a leadoff home run over the center-field fence off Las Vegas reliever Dave Maurer.
Enter Davey, who after getting shortstop Ray Hulbert to pop out, allowed a single to Dee Brown.
Brown took second on a passed ball by catcher Steve Soliz. One out later, he came around to score what proved to be the winning run on Fabregas' single to right.
