Sierra Pacific Resources of Reno, parent company of Nevada Power Co., Monday reported a loss for the second quarter ended June 30 of $20.2 million or 26 cents per share vs. a pro forma profit in the year-ago quarter of $26.5 million.
The 1999 quarter's loss included $70 million of unanticipated fuel and purchased power price increases caused by hot temperatures and tight power markets in the West.
