Washoe County sheriff's deputies said 26-year-old Martin McRae was reporting missing around midnight Monday.
McRae had taken his three children, two neighbor children and a nephew on an outing when their truck broke down. He and the children, who range in age from 2 to 10, stayed on the mountain through the night.
Authorities said McRae hiked to a convenience store early Tuesday and called his wife, who called authorities.
Search and rescue personnel found the group around 7 a.m.
No one was injured.
