Editorial: Let’s head off this nuke waste disaster
Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 | 10:01 a.m.
Recent research suggests that a new ceramic material, which isn't damaged by radiation over long periods of time, could allow nuclear waste to be stored in ceramic containers at nuclear power plants for 100 years or more. But the key is whether Congress can admit it made an egregious mistake in eyeing only Yucca Mountain as a repository -- and say no to the nuclear power industry.
