Thirteen Las Vegas properties received "Gold Key" awards from Meetings & Conventions magazine, an award recognizing the world's best meeting properties around the world.
Winners were nominated and selected by the magazine's readers, who based their votes on the property's overall professionalism and quality. The magazine presented the award to 174 hotels across the country.
MGM MIRAGE gathered the most Gold Keys, winning awards for the Bellagio, the MGM Grand, the Mirage and Treasure Island. Park Place Entertainment Corp. received awards for Bally's, Caesars Palace and the Las Vegas Hilton, while Mandalay Resort Group received honors for the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
Independently owned properties receiving Gold Keys were the soon-to-be-closed Desert Inn, the Four Seasons Las Vegas and the Venetian. The magazine also presented a Gold Key to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Criteria for the award included meeting staff attitude, quality of meeting rooms, quality of guest services, quality of food and beverage service, proficiency in handling reservations, availability of technical and support equipment, and range of recreational facilities.
