Yet he chooses for his vice presidential running mate a man who voted against banning "cop-killer bullets" and all-plastic handguns that can easily be smuggled onto airplanes, and is in lock step with the henchmen of the National Rifle Association.
The examples go on and on. But clearly the GOP -- in spite of the honeyed-down rhetoric of "The Compassionate Mr. Bush" -- in the words of my sainted, Native-American grandmother, speaks with a forked tongue!
