Columnist Kate Maddox: Trio to help Woods raise funds

The third round of Tiger Woods' benefit concerts will take place in Las Vegas, but at a new venue. Woods and his Tiger Jam III celebration will pass over the Rio hotel-casino (last year's host hotel) and give the Mandalay Bay Events Center a go on Oct. 7.

Tiger Jam III, which will raise money for local youth charities, is scheduled to showcase teeny-bopper Christina Aguilera, country star LeAnn Rimes and Seal.

Random? Yes, absolutely, but still big-ticket names.

Aguilera continues to hang in and around the Billboard Top 10, and Rimes will undoubtedly be making one of her first public appearances after having to postpone her summer concert tour because of a strained right vocal cord. She is expected to be back in action by late September. And Seal ... well, Seal had some hits a few years back and he still occasionally makes the gossip pages for dating supermodels.

Woods always manages to grab a few big names for his jam sessions. His first Tiger Jam, which was held in Los Angeles two years ago, included performances by the Eagles, Hootie & the Blowfish (referred to these days as Who?-tee & the Blowfish) and Babyface. Last year the show at the Rio was a more intimate affair -- singers Celine Dion and Glenn Frey performed for just over 1,000 guests.

This year they're pulling out the stops and opening the doors to more than "9,500 delighted fans" willing to plunk down anywhere from $20-$50 a ticket. The show and VIP parties should be a celebrity draw. Last year's event at the Rio got some national hoopla on the celeb-sighting front -- it was the first time Bruce Willis publicly made the scene with his new Spanish flame, Maria Bravo.

No announcements yet on which stars will be in attendance for this year's concert, but Tiger's ready. The, um, loquacious Woods almost let his excitement get the best of him when he said via a news release: "We are very pleased to have Christina, LeAnn and Seal performing at this year's Tiger Jam Concert."

Hey, get a hold of yourself, Tiger.

Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance" celebrated its second anniversary this week. The Irish stepping show has been consistently drawing good-sized crowds since its opening at New York-New York.

The show's popularity must have reached producers of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon because it's just been announced as the opener of this year's telecast. In addition to kicking things off, the cast will also do two other numbers. The MDA Telethon airs during Labor Day weekend.

Tom Selleck was spotted at the Crazy Horse Too this week. Standing by the back door of the popular gentlemen's club, TV's "Magnum P.I." lit up a big stogie and started puffing. The actor wasn't all that focused on the women, he just wanted to chat about the good old days. Overheard reminiscing about his years playing the Ferrari-driving, private eye living in Hawaii, Selleck stuck to the cigar, avoided the stage and ducked out the back with friends after a short stay.

The Radio City Rockettes high-stepped it out of Las Vegas last week. After 3,585 shows with the "Great Radio City Spectacular," the leggy ladies bid adieu to the Flamingo Las Vegason July 31.

Following what has become a Las Vegas tradition of getting a party after donating some piece of memorabilia to Planet Hollywood, the Rockettes dropped off an authentic costume at the restaurant in the afternoon, returned to the Flamingo for their final show and then beat it back to PH to party the night away at a shindig in their honor.
