Vigilance high for I-80 speeders
Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000 | 10:09 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol is cracking down on speeding motorists and those who drive aggressively on the interstate between Auburn and Truckee.
The crackdown coincides with the Hot August Nights event in Reno, when traffic on I-80 is unusually heavy, and extends through Sunday.
The Nevada Highway Patrol, the Placer County Sheriff's Department and the Reno Police Department's Gang Task Force team will have all available officers on the road and will use aerial surveillance, concentrating efforts on aggressive and intoxicated drivers as well as speeders.
