LV falls short of no-rain record

The Las Vegas Valley didn't break the all-time record for rain-free weather this year.
Thunderstorms and showers rumbled through Southern Nevada on Wednesday, dropping 0.08 of an inch at McCarran International Airport by midnight, National Weather Service meteorologist Paul Skrbac said.
The last measurable rain fell on March 8. That is 146 days, or five months ago. Las Vegas would have tied the record of 150 consecutive days without rain set in 1955 on Saturday, Skrbac said.
Conditions are ripe for more lightning and thunderstorms today and this evening.
The weather could begin drying out by Friday with highs in the lower 100s, Skrbac said.
