Two still sought for questioning after shooting of officer

Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 | 10:43 a.m.

Metro Police are searching for two people in connection with a June restaurant robbery that resulted in a police officer being shot in the face.

"We have some information we need to corroborate with them," said Lt. Wayne Petersen of Metro's homicide unit. "We have not been able to find them."

Detectives want to question 20-year-old Terrance Winn and 20-year-old Tamika Beavers about the robbery of the Macayo Vegas restaurant, 4457 W. Charleston Blvd., just before 11 p.m. June 14 and the shooting of Officer Pete Rossi as a trio of robbers ran from the scene.

Petersen would not call either Winn or Beavers a suspect in the robbery and shooting.

Beavers has not shown up for her job at a rental car agency since the day after the incident, Petersen said. Winn, who has several arrests for domestic battery and minor charges, also has not been located.

Petersen would not say what information led police to start searching for Winn and Beavers. He would only say, "We want to talk to them."

Petersen said detectives are still searching for a third robbery suspect and a fourth person who drove a getaway car.

Two men have been charged with robbery, attempted murder and other crimes in connection with the robbery and shooting. Markus Weatherspoon, 22, and Darnell Graham Harris, 21, were indicted by a Clark County grand jury on the charges and are being held in the Clark County jail on $1 million bail each.

Both Harris and Weatherspoon have a history of arrests.

In 1999 Harris was arrested for kidnapping, drug possession, obstruction and giving false information to a police officer. He received probation on the drug-possession charge. In 1998 he was arrested for obstructing a police officer, police said.

Weatherspoon has been arrested for domestic battery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. He also is wanted in North Las Vegas and Los Angeles on drug-related charges.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Winn or Beavers is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
