Letter: School Board should be booted along with Garcia
Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000 | 9:42 a.m.
Of course the man is a bigot. There is no question. People without prejudice do not employ that language, under any conditions! This man must resign! The decent thing for him to do is to give back the monies paid him, tear up his contract and leave.
In reading the initial article in your paper, I felt he should be fired simply because he lacks remedial skills in the English language. But racial slurs must not be allowed to go unpunished.
We would not tolerate a police officer, city/county official or an individual teacher to use language of this low order. His apology smacks of the old cop-out, "I'm not a bigot. Why, some of my best friends ..."
Not only must he leave (without pay or severance), but also we should demand the resignation of the entire School Board and our money back from the headhunters who put forth this terrible person.
This is also an excellent reason to break down the behemoth known as the Clark County School District into manageable sizes.
