Force had a quarter-mile run of 4.826 seconds with a top speed of 317.72 mph on the Virginia Motorsports Park track. He'll face Bob Gilbertson to start Sunday's elimination runs. Gilbertson defeated Force two weeks ago in the first round at Houston and went on to win the first race of his career.

Amato was best in the Top Fuel category for the second time this season, covering the distance in 4.563 seconds with a top speed of 311.99 mph. The run was the quickest for the 6,000 horsepower category this season.
Johnson paced the quickest field ever in Pro Stock, turning in a track-record 6.838 seconds, with a speed of 201.28 mph.
Panella earned his third No. 1 qualifying position, clocking a national record 7.463 seconds (179.23 mph) to lead the quickest Pro Stock Truck field in NHRA history.
