Benson edges Schrader to win at California Speedway

Benson, who started the event alongside Schrader on the outside of the front row, charged past Brendan Gaughan to take the lead on lap 93 at California Speedway.

A late-race caution set up a two-lap dash to the finish, with Benson beating Schrader to the finish by 1.029 seconds.

Gaughan held on for third, followed by Eric Norris and Kevin Richards. Rounding out the top 10 were former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville, David Starr, Mike Duncan, Jeff Jefferson and John Borneman III.

Gaughan retained the lead in the NASCAR Winston West Series championship standings, with Richards moving to second and John Metcalf third.
