LV home builder ends 24-hour sales office experiment
Friday, April 28, 2000 | 10:44 a.m.
Homebuilder Kaufman & Broad Corp. is scaling back its first 24-hour sales office in Las Vegas after four months of operation. The promotion, announced with significant fanfare, netted the company lots of publicity and even a few home sales.
The Los Angeles company introduced 24-hour sales at its Monaco development in the city's southwest region in early January. The move was predicated on the idea that Las Vegans work odd hours and therefore would be interested in looking at new homes at various times of the day.
However, as of Monday, the Monaco sales office will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The company said the move reflected the lack of activity in the overnight hours.
Since introducing the extended sales hours, the company reported 17 homes were sold between midnight and 9 a.m.
