Injunction issued against ex-patient

A Las Vegas eyecare institute won an injunction against a former patient to stop him from vandalizing its property and threatening its employees.
Westfield Eye Center and Kenneth C. Westfield M.D. Ltd. doing business as Shearing-Westfield Eye Institute sued Thomas M. Jones, alleging he called the office on April 17 and threatened to "take the office down."
Clark County District Judge James Mahan issued a temporary restraining order on April 18 against Jones in response to Westfield's concerns that Jones, who it said caused $6,695 worth of damage to the property on Nov. 19, 1998, may carry out his threats to harm its property again.
The suit said Jones was prosecuted by the state and was required to pay $6,695 in restitution for vandalizing Westfield's property.
Leland Backus, Westfield's attorney, declined to comment on the motivation behind Jones' attack and alleged threats.
Jones' attorney could not be reached for comment.
