Ex-sales manager takes state post

A former sales manager for the World of Coca-Cola and Scenic Airlines was named manager of international tours and travel for the Nevada Commission on Tourism.
Carla Fisher, who boosted group sales 40 percent above anticipated levels at the recently closed World of Coca-Cola museum, and who managed Scenic Airlines' international and national tourism for its Grand Canyon sightseeing tours, took the post late last month.
She replaces Brenda Hughes, who was named manager of travel and trade in the United Kingdom for the Travel Industry of America and will be based in London.
Fisher will be responsible for spurring the state's bid to increase visits from overseas. The state and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have increased marketing efforts to attract visitors from Japan, Europe and Latin America in the past two years.
State officials say 10 percent of the state's 45.5 million visitors come from foreign countries.
