Wednesday, April 26, 2000 | 10:19 a.m.

The hometown U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will be the star attraction next month when Nellis Air Force Base hosts an open house and air show. The event is expected to draw 150,000 to 200,000 people.

The Thunderbirds - the Air Force precision flight team - are stationed at Nellis.

The event on May 6 will also feature the Skyhawks Canadian parachute team, and the Air Combat Command's A-10 Warthog demonstration team.

Many aircraft will also be on display, including the B-1 and B-2 bombers and the F-117A Stealth fighter.

The last air show was held at Nellis in 1997 and marked the 50th anniversary of the Air Force.
