Las Vegas company files lawsuit over work on ‘70s television show

Wednesday, April 26, 2000 | 9:56 a.m.

A Las Vegas television post-production company sued C/F International Inc. and its owner, Alexander Burt Rosen, alleging they defaulted on a $90,000 payment for the updating and restoration of archived episodes of the 1970s "The Big Blue Marble" television show.

In a Clark County District Court suit, Tigerfilm Inc., which said it was to be paid $325,500 in four installments to update 151 half-hour episodes of the show for content and to a format suitable for present-day airing, alleged it lost about $60,000 in profits it said it would have received had it been able to complete the contract.

Tigerfilm, which was to deliver updated episodes of the show once every 90 days for a year, said it stopped working after updating 46 episodes because the defendants stopped making payments after the second installment.

The suit said the payment schedule under the agreement was "front-loaded" so that the initial payments by C/F International would cover only Tigerfilm's costs, while the last payments would represent the $60,000 profit Tigerfilm was to realize under the agreement.

Tigerfilm also said it was out of pocket $30,000 because it had advanced $170,000 in good faith and had only been paid about $140,000.

Tigerfilm also alleged C/F International lied about being a Nevada corporation in good standing at the time it hired the company on Dec. 23, 1997, when as its corporate charter allegedly was revoked by the Nevada Secretary of State on Oct. 1, 1996.

C/F International officials could not be reached for comment.
