A Las Vegas attorney and another local man, who was wearing a UNLV national championship ring, were arrested Monday on Alabama warrants accusing them of giving money and gifts to an Auburn University basketball player.
Robert Walsh, 39, and Nathan Cebrun, 54, were indicted by an Alabama grand jury and accused of violating Alabama Athletic Regulatory Commission rules. Walsh was arrested about 4 p.m. during a traffic stop on 4th Street and Stewart Avenue by the local Criminal Apprehension Team made up of local and federal law enforcement officers.
Cebrun, who police say is known as "Coach Nate," was arrested in his apartment in the 1100 block of South Cimmeron Road about 7 p.m. He refused to answer his door when police showed up at his home and was found hiding in the bathroom, said Sgt. Al Cervantes of the Criminal Apprehension Team.
Cebrun was wearing a 1990 UNLV national basketball championship ring when he was arrested.
Police are still searching for Las Vegas resident Colleen Preiss, 49, who also was indicted by the Alabama grand jury, Cervantes said.
Six new Chevy Tahoe sport utility vehicles were seen in the parking lot of the Cimarron Road apartment complex with temporary registration under the name of Big Time Sports and Robert J. Walsh.
