Letter: Schneider hero of homeowners
Tuesday, April 25, 2000 | 9:27 a.m.
Judi joined my group shortly after I formed it and it was she, Mrs. Caruso and I who sat with Schneider in a fast food restaurant -- one historic day -- when I handed him a list of six proposals that I wanted to see on law books in the state of Nevada.
These laws would give beleaguered and helpless homeowners some small means to save their homes from the tyrannical grasp of homeowners associations.
Through his efforts -- against total opposition from powerful real estate forces -- he delivered on three items on my wish list and because of this wonderful man, homeowners can actually speak freely at their homeowners association meetings.
It's a law, people. Mike Schneider made it happen. No more secret association meetings.
Schneider has risked his political career by taking on some powerful forces that have -- and continue to -- prey on the constitutional rights of homeowners.
I resigned from the homeowners' wars. It would be a great loss if this caring, effective legislator is retired by the people. He's my champ.
