Adelson hospice to offer course
The Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation is offering a volunteer education course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays at the hospice, 4141 Swenson St.

AARP discussion planned at library
Seniors are invited to attend an AARP panel discussion 7 p.m. Monday at the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive.
Subjects will include Social Security, Medicare, long-term and managed care. For more information, call Ted Harmon at 364-9240.
Medical professionals, survivors invited
The first stroke conference for health care professionals, survivors and caregivers will be held 8 a.m.-3 p.m. May 13 at the Alexis Park Resort, 375 E. Harmon Ave. The conference is sponsored by the American Heart Association's Western States Affiliate.
National speakers are Dr. Jeff Saver, medical director of the UCLA stroke unit, and Dr. John Schafer, assistant clinical professor of neurology at University of California Davis. For more information, call 367-1366.
Sparkle and shine
Only Diamonds will hold the second annual "An Evening of Glamour and Sparkle" to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 6-10 p.m. Thursday in the jewelry store, 501 S. Rainbow Blvd. Cost is $25. Call 258-8700.
End of treatment
A celebration for WestCare Nevada clients who have completed required treatment programs in the past year will be held noon-4 p.m. Saturday at UNLV in the Moyer Student Union.
Respiratory health conference
The American Lung Association of Nevada is sponsoring the 15th annual Respiratory Health Conference Thursday and Friday at the Tropicana hotel-casino. For more information, call 431-6333.
WalkAmerica
The March of Dimes WalkAmerica will begin 8:30 a.m. Saturday with registration at 7 a.m. at the UNLV Moyer Student Union. Call 732-9255.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, April 26 through May 2:
DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 3262 Civic Center Drive, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS WIC OFFICE: 5701 Missouri Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
DESERT BREEZE CLINIC: 8275 Spring Mountain Road, noon-4 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
RAINBOW LIBRARY: 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. May 2.
CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER CLINIC: 3827 S. Maryland Parkway, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. May 2.
