Albert Steven Baller

Albert Steven Baller, 53, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. He was born July 13, 1946, in Detroit. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired dealer.

He is survived by one son, Jason Baller of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Michelle Ayala, and one brother, Mike Baller, both of Las Vegas.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling private arrangements.

Joe Barger

Joe Barger, 41, of Las Vegas died Thursday. He was born June 17, 1958, in Clarksville, Tenn. A resident for two years, he was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Judy Barger, and one brother, Jeff Barger, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Jami Newman of Grapevine, Texas, and Laura Huffman of Quail Valley, Calif.; and his grandmother, Opal Dalton of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4601 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Kathleen L. Bates

Kathleen L. Bates, 84, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Friday in New Mexico. She was born March 30, 1916, in Florence, Ala. A former Boulder City resident from 1952 to 1996, she was a retired high school secretary.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Severson of Albuquerque; one sister, Mary Chesser of Port Naches, Texas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Entombment will follow in Palm Mausoleum, Boulder City.

Eric Farid Chain

Eric Farid Chain, 23, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 20, 1977, in Mexico City. A resident for many years, he was a stagehand at a local casino.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gilda and Arthur Cook of Henderson.

Services are pending. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John F. Clarizio

John F. Clarizio, 49, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 4, 1950, in Illinois. A resident for many years, he was a laborer in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; his mother, Mary Carcione, and one sister, Lillian Johnson, both of Chicago; and two brothers, Luke Clarizio of Lockport, Ill., and Samuel Clarizio of Chicago.

Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Dan H. Conyers

Dan H. Conyers, 47, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Laughlin. He was born June 11, 1952, in Colorado. A resident for many years, he was an electronics technician for an aircraft company.

He is survived by one sister, Jane Schomber of Bennett, Colo.

Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Robert V. Gieser

Robert V. Gieser, 55, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 28, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired driver in the security industry, a member of Golden Memories Car Club and Chrysler Club of Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Barbara Way of Peru, N.Y., and Brandie Gieser of Willsboro, N.Y.; two sons, Robert H. Gieser of Manor Park, N.Y., and William Gieser of Las Vegas; his mother, Frances Gieser of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Alvin Glantz

Alvin Glantz, 80, of Sandy Valley died Friday in Sandy Valley. He was born Aug. 14, 1919, in New York City. A resident for 44 years, he was the retired owner-operator of Glantz Music Co. and past chief of the Mount Charleston Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Estelle; two daughters, Rebecca Glantz and Judi Herring, both of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Ellsworth 'Hi' Heiman

Ellsworth "Hi" Heiman, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born July 23, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 25 years, he was an estate planner in the insurance industry, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; two sons, Richard Heiman of Englewood, Colo., and Ron Heiman of Anaheim, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Suk Wha Hong

Suk Wha Hong, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Korea. A resident for several months, he worked in the real estate industry.

He is survived by one daughter, Lora Kim of Washington state.

Burial will be in Seattle. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Robert W. Horstman

Robert W. Horstman, 77, of Las Vegas died April 15 in a local hospice. He was born June 9, 1922, in Princeton, Minn. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired law enforcement supervisor, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Shriners.

He is survived by three brothers, William Horstman of Las Vegas and Gary Horstman and Gerry Horstman, both of Los Angeles; and two sisters, Lois Kearns of Las Vegas and Lou Ann Person of New York City.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Jean Evans Jordan

Jean Evans Jordan, 88, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 22, 1911, in Oklahoma. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Christopher Jordan and James Gerald Jordan, both of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Jeanne Wondra of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Cynthia Sue Low-Serniak

Cynthia Sue Low-Serniak, 47, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born July 11, 1952, in Childress, Texas. A resident for two years, she was a senior recruiter for Southwest Airlines, previously served on the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and was recognized as the 1999 Handicapped Employee of the Year.

She is survived by her mother, Dovie Christine Low, one brother, Lynn Low, and two sisters, Sherry Fulton and Sandy Field, all of Texas.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. services today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Texas.

Catherine Moore

Catherine Moore, 56, of Las Vegas died Friday in California. She was born July 6, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired insurance saleswoman, an Army veteran, a member of the North Las Vegas Housing Authority, Black Women's Alliance, First Fridays of Las Vegas, Urban Chamber of Commerce and Latin Chamber of Commerce.

She is survived by one daughter, Lita Renee Rand, and two sons, Leonard Moore and Anthony Moore, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

The family suggests donations to University of Southern California Cancer Center, Los Angeles.

Masatoshi Murakami

Masatoshi Murakami, 67, of Pahrump died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Lanaina, Hawaii. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired automobile mechanic and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys M.; one daughter, Audrey R. Leong of Aiea, Hawaii; three sons, Arthur H. Murakami of Pearl City, Hawaii, Brian S. Murakami of Pahrump and David N. Murakami of Honolulu; his mother, Hatsumi Murakami of Lahaina; one sister, Masayo Morikawa of Honolulu; one brother, Janis Murakami of Simi Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Ethel Theresa Steurer

Ethel Theresa Steurer, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; one daughter, Lori Migliore of Las Vegas; one son, Jack Henkel of Pahrump; five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Bernice W. Thomas

Bernice W. Thomas, 96, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 4, 1903, in Bountiful, Utah. A resident for 45 years, she was a government secretary and a World War II Army veteran.

She is survived by one sister, Edna Tuttle of Bountiful.
