Texas Gov. George W. Bush mined more campaign money in Nevada last month than Democratic opponent Al Gore.
Bush in March received $18,475 from 28 individual contributors in Nevada, 15 from Las Vegas or Henderson, according to FECInfo, a Washington group that analyzes campaign money.
Among Bush's Nevada donors were Las Vegas music producer Norbert Aleman ($1,000); Las Vegas developer James Black ($1,000); Laurich Properties executives Hank and Richard Gordon of Las Vegas ($1,000 each); and Wal-Mart Stores family member Robson Walton, who listed his Lake Tahoe address as Incline Village ($1,000).
Gore made $2,470 from six people in Nevada in March, five retirees and an insurance executive.
Florida was the most profitable state for Bush with more than 1,000 individuals giving him about $810,000. Gore made the most money in March in New York: about $272,000 from more than 300 individual donors.
Bush has raised a total of $75.2 million between January 1999 and Feb. 29, 2000, according to FECInfo. He had about $12 million in cash-on-hand at the end of February, before the March fund raising. Bush listed $6.6 million in total incoming receipts in March.
Gore has raised about $40.2 million between January 1999 and Feb. 29, 2000, with about $6.3 million in cash-on-hand at the end of that month. Gore raised $2 million in March.
