Reno airport passenger counts decline again
Sunday, April 23, 2000 | 10:13 a.m.
The airport recorded 5.8 percent fewer passengers in March than the same month a year ago.
First-quarter passenger counts at the airport are running 6 percent below the first quarter of 1999.
But the weight of mail and freight passing through the airport soared 18.9 percent in March over the same month a year ago and is running 11.1 percent ahead for the quarter.
Airport officials attribute the falling passenger counts to flight reductions and American Airlines' takeover of Reno Air.
Southwest carried the most passengers in March, with 12 percent more than a year ago. TWA filled the highest percentage of its seats in March - 91 percent.
