The Las Vegas Country Club's President's Cup Golf Tournament crowned Tom Hyland overall champion after he defeated Frank DeLee in a playoff. Both golfers finished with 36-hole totals of 139. Gloria Carson was the Ladies overall winner with her fine 141.
DeLee won first flight honors with his 139 followed by Kent McBeath and Mort Goldstein with scores of 143 and 146, respectively.
In the second flight, Paul Nelson beat Charles Snavely in a playoff after both men fired 140s. Third at 141 was James Cravitt.
In yet another playoff, Jim Wade prevailed over Jim Brown in the third flight after both players recorded 141. Taking third with 142 was Johnny Joseph.
Tammy Gephardt's 144 captured the ladies flight over Kaz Pratt and Velma Fernandez, who both came in with 145.
* NOT A GOOD DAY FOR GOLF: Miserable, wet and windy conditions greeted members of the Nevada State Seniors Golf Club at the Sunrise Vista Golf Course at Nellis Air Base for their April tournament. Accordingly, scores were higher.
In the first flight, Don McComas and Gene Watkins shared the honors with net 71s. Carl Simcox and Al Cibulski tied for third with 72s.
Jack Thompson and Peter Velasco each shot 69 to share first place in the second flight with Ross Deacon placing third at 70.
Third flight victor was Ike Williams with his net 70 while Dick Ertz and Larry Morgan tied for second with 71s.
