In its first day, a new police task force focusing on aggressive drivers Wednesday afternoon handed out more than 200 citations on a stretch of Sahara Avenue.
The task force -- made up of two officers each from Metro, North Las Vegas and Henderson police and Nevada Highway Patrol -- handed out 166 tickets for traffic signal violations, 29 for seat belt violations, two for failure to use a child seat restraint and three for driving on a suspended license, police said.
The eight officers were targeting Sahara Avenue in the first day of a year-long effort to combat the area's aggressive drivers. Next week the officers will target another dangerous intersection or stretch of highway within another jurisdiction.
