BASEBALL

Green Valley 8, Rancho Buena Vista (Calif.) 2: Ben Scheinbaum tossed a complete-game five-hitter to help the Gators into the semifinal round of the Lion's Club Invitational in San Diego. Green Valley got a two-run homer from Garrett Guzman and a three-run triple from John Grose in the victory.

Foothill 11, Clark 2: Grant Stanley scattered five hits and struck out 15 in a complete-game victory to lift the hosts into the championship of the Foothill Invitational. Jabe Beard went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple for the Falcons.

Foothill 7, Clark 6: The Falcons scored four runs in the final frame to capture the inaugural Foothill Invitational. Josh Daneshforooz singled home the winning run, and the Falcons also got a two-RBI single from Grant Stanley and an RBI double from Mike Lee in the critical seventh inning.

Las Vegas (split) 10, Centennial 5: The Wildcats' junior varsity squad captured third place in the Foothill Invitational.
