James Hardie Industries Ltd., owner of a Las Vegas wallboard plant, said it's buying Western Gypsum to supply the Las Vegas plant with gypsum.
Hardie is based in Sydney, Australia. Western Gypsum has a mine near St. George, Utah.
"Western Gypsum gives us options to expand our product range and market position, enter new market segments, reduce our costs and increase the return on assets in our gypsum business," Hardie said in a statement.
