Acres Gaming Inc. of Las Vegas today reported a net loss of $1.1 million, or 13 cents per share, for the quarter ending March 31. In the year-ago period, the company earned $83,000 or 1 cent per share.
Revenues declined 65 percent to $2.2 million. Acres said earnings were boosted during the year-ago quarter by a large installation project at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino, which opened last spring.
However, Acres also reported it received a $4.6 million order to install its "Acres Advantage" casino-wide slot system at the new MonteCasino in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking the company's first contract in that market. Completion of the project is expected by fall.
