Las Vegas man probed in alleged embezzlement

The investigation of an alleged embezzlement by a former Merrill Lynch employee has been turned over to the Nevada Securities Division.
Michael Sullivan, a former operations manager in Merrill Lynch's office at 2300 W. Sahara Ave., was fired last fall by the company for misappropriating money from the firm, a company spokesman said this week.
Bill Halldin said client accounts were reimbursed and Merrill Lynch notified regulatory and law enforcement agencies as required by the National Association of Securities Dealers.
Halldin said Sullivan, a client associate and not a broker, is accused of misappropriating $33,000.
Charles Moore, securities administrator for the state division, said he could not comment on an investigation in progress.
