Rebuild America Day planned

Local business and community groups will be coming together April 29 for Rebuild America Day. Christmas in April Greater Las Vegas sponsors the annual event, which provides home repair and rehabilitation for low-income homeowners, particularly the disabled and elderly.

Since its inception in Las Vegas in 1994, with the help of corporations, individuals, labor organizations and civic and religious organizations, Christmas in April has successfully refurbished 133 homes and six nonprofit/youth facilities in the Las Vegas Valley. BLM to hold habitat preservation lab

The Clark County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan workshop series will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday in the Bureau of Land Management Conference Room, 4765 W. Vegas Drive.

The workshop will address the status of Clark County's butterfly species that require conservation efforts. Call (775) 784-1303.

Group sponsors Arbor Day events

The city of Henderson Commemorative Beautification Commission is sponsoring a weeklong Arbor Week celebration Tuesday through April 28 at two city parks, culminating with an Arbor Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on April 28 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St.

Findlay Toyota donated $4,400 to bus more than 1,100 Henderson fourth grade students and their teachers to attend each of the Arbor Week events. For more information, call 565-4264.

Grieving assistance to be offered

Family Home Hospice is offering a free bereavement support group to help children ages 6 to 12 deal with the death of a loved one.

Free symposium on future of computers

Two scholars from the University of Virginia will lead a symposium from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at UNLV, on the future of computing in the humanities.

"Humanities Adventures in Computerland: Field Notes from the University of Virginia" is scheduled both days in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. The symposium is open to the public and free.
