Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas will hold its semi-annual used book sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Von's supermarket, 4810 W. Sahara Ave. in the Sahara Pavilion.
The group also holds a used book sale in the fall.
All proceeds will benefit Soroptimist combined charities. For more information, call 362-7666.
Dreadlocks with 'Curl Up and Dye'
Curl Up and Dye Salon is hosting the Knotty Boy DreadStuff team for a free one-night dreadlock workshop 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the salon, 4110 S. Maryland Parkway.
If you would like to volunteer as a dreadlock guinea pig for the evening in exchange for a lovely head of locks, e-mail knottykidz@knottyboy.com to reserve your spot in advance.

Art museum expert speaks on design
Aaron Betsky, curator of architecture and design at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, will give a talk titled "Architecture Must Burn at Home in Sprawl" at 6 p.m. Tuesday at UNLV in the Architecture Library, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

KSNE offers an 'eggcellent' time
Families are invited to celebrate spring at the ninth annual KSNE-106.5's "Egg-cellent Adventure."
"Eggcellent Adventure is a free festival open to children under 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the All-American SportsPark.
KSNE will host an organized parkwide scavenger hunt for sweets and goodies.
Cystic Fibrosis walk seeks participants
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is looking for volunteers to walk in Great Strides: A Walk for the Cure at 10 a.m. May 21 at Hills Park in Summerlin.
Based on average dollars raised per walker, 720 dedicated walkers will be needed to make the goal of $50,000. For more information, call 383-8500.
Firearms consultant speaks to group
Firearms consultant Robert M. Irwin will speak to the Pinon Pines Chapter, American Business Women's Association, 6 p.m. Thursday at Marie Callender's, 4875 W. Flamingo Road.
Irwin is semi-retired from the Gun Store, where he is an instructor -- in Security Officer and Concealed Weapon permits, firearms and use of force classes. Call 228-7118.
Stained glass workshops offered
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting two stained glass workshops for beginners, 9:30 a.m. April 27 at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and 9:30 a.m. May 9 at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
The workshops cost $20, which includes use of glass cutters and sanding tools. Participants may opt to bring their own supplies or pick up a supply list at registration. Supplies cost about $20. Advanced registration is requested. For more information, call 565-2121.
The department also is offering a flyfishing workshop 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. The workshop is geared toward the novice through intermediate sportsman, ages 9 or older. Participation is $95.
Explorers' views are topic of forum
"After the Discovery: Lewis and Clark and the Fate of the Western Indians" is the topic of the next University Forum lecture 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History at UNLV.
Stephen Aaron, A UCLA history professor, will focus on the post-exploration careers of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and how the co-captains of the Corps of Discovery tried to preserve peaceful relations with the Indians. The lecture is free. Call 895-3401.
