Woman killed in attack; boyfriend charged

They were called to a Black Springs home, where they found Gary Shepard, 37, straddling 37-year-old Robin Underwood, who had been stabbed repeatedly.

The two were in the middle of the street, where the fight apparently moved after starting in the home. The victim was taken to Washoe Medical Center where she later died. Shepard was charged with murder.

Relatives of the victim said Underwood had been living with Shepard on and off for the past month.

Shepard was taken to Washoe Medical Center for treatment of several minor bites he apparently received from a roommate's dog. The dog received two deep stab wounds but was expected to recover.
