LV apartments sued over robbery, assault
Tuesday, April 18, 2000 | 11:15 a.m.
A Las Vegas couple sued Saxton Properties, Saratoga Palm Apartments and a property manager, Wannett Daniels, alleging they were robbed and assaulted because the defendants failed to maintain adequate security at an apartment complex at 2125 North Las Vegas Blvd.
In a Clark County District Court suit, the couple said they began renting an apartment at Saratoga Palms North II on April 1, 1998, and they left six days later after the alleged attack. One of the alleged victims said she was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions by six assailants.
The suit alleged the defendants failed to take corrective measures to maintain security at the complex despite receiving tenant complaints and reports of criminal activity and inadequate security.
"For at least 12 months prior to April 7, 1998, a variety of crimes including ... assaults, rapes, shootings, murders, gang related crimes and the illegal use of drugs had taken place directly at the premises," the suit said.
The defendants could not be reached for comment.
