Two teens arrested in March incident
Two Las Vegas teenagers were arrested Monday in connection with the kidnapping of a woman who was forced to try to cash a check at four area casinos.
Mica Johnson, 18, and a 16-year-old girl were charged with kidnapping, robbery and grand larceny auto. The pair is accused of kidnapping a woman from a parking lot on March 7, Metro Police said.
Two charged in violent robbery
A juvenile was stabbed several times Monday about 11:30 p.m. and robbed of his wallet and Nike shoes in the 500 block of Zuber Avenue near Pabco Road and Boulder Highway, Henderson Police said.
Jesse Camacho, 21, and Ramiro Camacho, 23, were arrested in a Bastanchury Avenue home three blocks away and charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, police said.
The juvenile was treated at University Medical Center and released, police said.
Girl, 9, suffers broken leg in fall
Metro Police Search and Rescue officers and volunteers brought a 9-year-old girl with a broken leg safely down from a rocky hillside in Red Rock Canyon Monday afternoon.
The girl had been hiking with a group of seven people in the Red Springs picnic area when she and another girl became separated from the rest of the group, Sgt. Clint Bassett said.
Rescuers were flown by helicopter to where the girl had fallen, about 150 feet above the picnic area.
Blind man, girl, drive for help
Prone to seizures and legally blind, David Hanna fought panic when a campfire exploded, engulfing his wife's head and hands in flames.
"You're my eyes," he told his 14-year-old daughter, Krystallyn, sitting her on his lap behind the steering wheel of their car in a race to find help for the critically burned woman.
Paramedics say the quick action by the father and daughter saved the life of Tammyla Hanna, 34, who was reported in critical condition today at University Medical Center.
Saturday's nightmare began whenTammyla Hanna poured gasoline on a fire in a barbecue grill at a remote campsite 25 miles southwest of Las Vegas. The subsequent explosion set fire to her head and hair.
David Hanna ripped her jacket from her and smothered the flames and then got her into the front seat of the family car.
He climbed into the driver's side, slid the seat all the way back, then told the 94-pound Krystallyn, "You're my eyes. I can't see. If you see a car, block the road. We have to get Mommy to help."
After driving for what Hanna described as "forever," Krystallyn noticed an oncoming vehicle and turned the family vehicle to block the road.
The motorist stopped, then raced the burned woman and her family to a fire station.
