Letter: Money wasted on attacking Clinton
Sunday, April 16, 2000 | 11:01 a.m.
The so-called "independent counsels" have already spent more than $50 million, and now this will add $5 million to $10 million more. This is just another case of "waste, fraud and abuse." Congress is always talking about the subject as it applies to the administration; now when they are in a position to do something about it themselves, they ignore the problem.
Congress keeps talking about the waste of taxpayer money, yet they allow this charade to continue. When are you guys, who supposedly control the purse strings, going to stop this shameful waste of our money. There are a number of uses that this money could be spent that would "truly" benefit the American people. You could apply it to paying down the national debt.
