Letter: Columnist right: Flag isn’t just ‘piece of cloth’
Sunday, April 16, 2000 | 10:59 a.m.
It has been a rallying emblem throughout history in many a battle. Sen. Richard Bryan used to appear at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery twice a year, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and feed us his rhetoric about how much is owed to us veterans.
Yet in October 1999 he voted against restoring some $3 billion to the Veterans Administration budget. So his change of stance on flag burning is just another showing of his hypocritical stance. As I stated in a previous letter to the editor: "It's not just a piece of cloth -- it's a grand old flag," and long may it wave, not to be burned or desecrated.
